Re-design car loan application
The current application is long and lengthy. I wanted to change the application process and keep the user engaged while doing so. My goal is to make the car loan application process fun!
The challenge
Re-design car loan application using the Material Design Kit
Using the Material Design Kit, the challenge is to re-design the existing Transcomm car loan application process. Many of us know how painful filling out applications can be. There is a track record of users abandoning sites and saving the application to fill out later. How might we keep the user engaged to finish filling out their car loan application?
Current Application
The current application is long and lengthy. I wanted to shorten the process by eliminating extraneous information. I used the progressive disclosure principle to lesson the cognitive load on users. Modal confirmations were used throughout the application to encourage users to continue filling out the application.
Flow 1 - Sign In
This is the first flow that will allow the user to sign in and choose what type of credit application they want to fill out.
Flow 2 - User Information
This flow will show the user what information they need before filling out the application. In addition to the information that they need, they can also scan and upload documents to autofill in their application.
Flow 3 - Form Fields
This is the most tedious task for the user. I included modal confirmations throughout this flow to keep the user engaged and encourage the user to keep filling out the forms.
Flow 4 - Finalize application
This flow allows the user to finalize the application by agreeing to the terms and conditions. The user can then sign with their finger to agree. The user is then shown a complete confirmation screen.
Project takeaways
Encourage the user
Lessening the cognitive load on the user can be beneficial in keeping the user engaged. I wanted to encourage the user to keep filling out the information and make the process exciting. Pop up modal confirmations were a vital part of this process.
